What is this?
This is a relaxed Japanese vocabulary sampler for learners who want exposure without turning every word into a chore. It samples from the Japanese Core 10K, a frequency-based vocabulary list used by many Anki and immersion learners.
It is meant to be small on purpose: open it, meet a word, read one sentence, maybe listen to native examples, then leave whenever you want.
Context without a queue
Every word includes kana, English meaning, and a Japanese example sentence with translation. The YouGlish link helps you hear the word in real videos instead of only reading it in isolation.
You can also browse the top 300 words as simple static pages if you want a more dictionary-like path through the most common vocabulary.
Simple mode samples uniformly from words 1-300 (most common). Standard mode uses weighted sampling from words 301-10,000, favoring more frequent words. Data sourced from the Core 10K Anki deck.
